DuckHunt (course:
Sound, Space and Interaction)
The mediatechnology course 'Sound, Space and Interaction' involved the
following assignment:
Make an interactive environment, which communicates, to the audience/participant/user
purely through sound.
You have to develop a communicating sonic language. The environment should
change according to designed rules of interactivity. This means that the
participant can change the environment by performing different actions.
Because I'm into games I tend to end up with game-related ideas. I thought
of the Nintende 8-bit classic Duckhunt, in which you have to shoot flying
ducks with a physical gun. I thought it would be challenging to convert
this game into a sound based Duckhunt. The concept stays the same, except
there are no visuals and you have to find and shoot the flying ducks completely
by listening and reacting to sounds.
There's no website about this project but you can download the patch right
here: Duckhunt. You will need MAX/Msp
which you can get right here: www.cycling74.com.
